Where can I find my Sending limits?

To check and change your Sending limits, go to Settings Accounts Sending.

Sending limits in sending tab

How it works

There are three main "switches" in the App that will help you to increase your daily email volume and better control sending:

Important: When increasing sending in Woodpecker, you need to be considerate of the limits in your email account that you connect to the app. Email Service Providers (ESPs, for short) have placed specific daily/hourly limits on their email accounts. Woodpecker needs to follow these rules just as you would.

For example, a free Gmail account has a daily limit of 500 messages, while G Suite accounts allow sending 2000 messages per day. It's often the case that hourly limits also apply, which means you cannot send all of those 2000 messages in just an hour or two. Hitting these limits might get you temporarily blocked from sending from your ESP's side. Learn more about these limits in this article: Sending limits of various Email Service Providers »

Daily limit (Campaign)

The daily limit controls how many opening emails at most will be sent in the campaign each day. You can set it in the campaign editing view, on the right-side panel, next to Email 1.

Daily limit of 50 prospects contacted each day is set on all your slots by default. If you need to send more emails, change it there.

If not used to its maximum, the daily limit won’t be cumulative for the next day or so. This is the highest amount of opening emails you can send in a 24h period. This setting merely limits sending and does not determine the fixed amount of emails that are going to be sent each day. Send time is randomized by the app to simulate manual sending (see Sending Settings below).

The follow-ups are not limited by this setting, and each will send when it is due (each prospect has its own follow-up schedule »).

Additionally, follow-ups may overlap in sending », if you have a large prospect base in your campaign, and set up many follow-ups in it.

Delivery time (Campaign)

Delivery time determines the daily and hourly timeframes for sending. You can set these for each email in the cadence in the campaign editing view, in the right-side panel (click to expand).

Defaults & Tweaks

By default, Delivery Time is set to 8 AM-6 PM thru Monday-Friday (so the weekend is not included in sending). It's a good idea to set it to your office hours (just don't forget to select your time zone – otherwise, 10:00 AM might turn into midnight).

Broad Delivery time (at least 8 hours a day) is recommended, while narrow (like 2 hours on Tuesdays) should be avoided to protect your email account from issues. Learn more in this article: What’s the Best Time to Send Email Campaign »

This setting is directly related to the hourly sending capacity that you set up in Sending settings. These two combined will give you an estimate of the daily volume of emails that are going to be sent in this campaign.

For example, with ~40 emails per hour (Sending settings), and 8 hours available for sending, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Delivery Time), your campaign will be able to send around 320 emails a day (8 × 40).

Sending settings (Mailbox)

Sending settings are where you specify the general daily limit for your mailbox and set up the sending interval between your emails. That's the ultimate switch here, so do make sure it produces the results you really need. You can tweak it in Settings → Email Accounts; click your mailbox in the list, and scroll down to find the section Sending.

Defaults & Tweaks

The default daily limit is 300 emails, and the default sending interval is "between 90 and 140 seconds". The minimum value for the sending interval is 10 seconds; there is no maximum value.

The daily limit can be lowered (e.g. to 200 emails per day), and the sending interval can be set to a broader range (e.g. "between 40 and 200 seconds") to ensure maximum deliverability.

The main daily limit for your mailbox is set right here. This limit will be shared by all campaigns that are running from this mailbox on a given day. It takes precedence over the Daily limit in any campaign.

Example: If you set the main daily limit in Sending settings to 300 and have 3 campaigns running from your account, they will send some 100 emails per day each (even if the campaign-level Daily limit for each is set to 500).

The sending interval is a range in seconds, from which the App will randomly choose the time to wait before sending each next email – this is why the calculated number of emails per hour is an estimate. The smaller the interval, the more emails the App will be able to send per hour (just don't go crazy with it).

Example: With the interval range "between 60 and 120 seconds" the first email in the campaign might be sent after 80 seconds, while the second after the next 65 seconds, the third after 113, the fourth after 79, etc.

This interval determines the maximum frequency of sending emails – but, on the other hand, this frequency can also be much lower, as the App always tries to send as infrequently as possible.

Example: If you have given Woodpecker 8 hours for sending on a particular day in your campaign's Delivery Time, but only added 80 prospects to that campaign, the App will only send 10 emails per hour (80 emails will be fit to 8 hours).
